Buttons and his pal, 6 time Triple Crown Champion Sonny Garcia recently paid a visit to a young fan Carly who is stricken with cystic fibrosis. She is an avid surfer and fan of these legends and was thrilled to have them pay a visit and pose for pics and sign posters, pictures and autographs. The visit was arranged by the Mauli Ola Foundation who do incredible work on behalf of CF victims-check them out here!

Here’s a video of Buttons’ recent trip to California-specifically his trip to Sunset Beach for a coffee tasting party and a little jam session with local underground guitarist/vocalist Dick Deluxe. Fellow surf legend Reno Abelirra sat in on congas and percussion. Quite a few photographers, fans and old friends came out on a rainy cold day and had a great time. Special thanks to Matt Meiners for arranging and hosting-wished he could have joined the fun!

These are scenes from a recent “cupping” in which Buttons’ Brew is prepared carefully for a variety of taste tests. Derek Lantern is the grower for the Dole farms where the only Waialua coffee in the world is grown!

Buttons to make appearance at the “Magic Show” in Las Vegas Feb 16-18

Buttons will be appearing with Garrett McNamara at the giant Las Vegas “Magic Show”.

Buttons visit to Sunset Beach (California!) a big success!

Sitting in with Dick and the boys at Mother's Tavern

Buttons came to Sunset Beach on Sat Feb 6th with his family for a coffee tasting reception and a performance at historic Mother’s Tavern.

Many may not know it but Buttons is a fine blues harmonica cat in addition to his legendary surfing prowess. A large crowd braved the rain and flooding to meet Buttons and he was uniformly gracious in signing autographs and posing for pics.

A great time had by all!

Buttons to blow harmonica in Sunset Beach Sat Feb 6th!

Many may not be aware that one of Buttons’ loves is playing the harmonica! This Saturday he will be sitting in at Mother’s Tavern in Sunset Beach, California with Dick Deluxe and friends. Starting around 3pm the historic tavern located on PCH in the tiny enclave of Sunset Beach Buttons will join a group of local “All Stars” who also are surfing enthusiasts-including a couple of former amateur champions.

Buttons is in California for the ASR convention in San Diego on Feb 3-4 to promote his new Buttons’ Brew coffee line. Dick Deluxe is a Sunset beach resident who has played with artists like Steve Miller, Vassar Clements, Mike Watt and Steve Mackay of the Stooges and many more.

Showtime is around 3PM and come early-Mother’s is a tiny, historic biker bar that has hosted a plethora of musicians in it’s 50 plus year history including early Sublime, Dick Dale and many others.

Reno Abellira to appear with Buttons at ASR this week

Surf legend Reno Abellira will be appearing with Buttons’ at the ASR surf industry convention in San Diego Feb 3-4 at the San Diego Convention Center.

A legendary surfer and board shaper, Reno continues to compete against youngsters half his age and put together great sessions every time he goes out. This winter he and Buttons’ have been very active on the Northshore furthing their legendary status!
